Devised by the Embolden 2025 Ensemble at St Martins, this new work interrogates what we owe each other and what we owe ourselves, and why these things seem to be in conflict with one another. This play explores the isolation young people feel as those close to them ‘don’t feel like’ showing up and don’t feel obligated to... so who shows up instead?

The design concept for this show is that this party is a ‘game’.

Like an ‘avatar’, the costumes help to communicate how each person is like a ‘player’ with their own agenda for being at this event.

In a world, which feels constructed like a game for social survival, the set is inspired by a 2D illustration, each edge outlined and coloured in by the owner with their favourite colour, yellow.

This illustrated house party portrays how constructed socialising is all too much like a game. Who’s going to win?
